Both the most shocking and unshocking news I’ve heard in a while, Rayman Legends has been delayed again and is going multiplatform. This is one of those bits of news that’s going to set forums on fire for a bit but I won’t have any of that here, let’s be sensible about this.
Rayman Legends was originally a Wii U exclusive and due to launch in March after already suffering one delay, neither one of those things are happening now.
“We heard from many Xbox and PlayStation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system,” Ubisoft’s EMEA chief marketing and sales officer Geoffroy Sardin stated.
The multiplatform jump isn’t a surprising one as the original Rayman Origins was available on anything that would basically run it. From the second Ubisoft announced Rayman Legends as a Wii U exclusive we all knew it was only a matter of time before it arrived on other systems, the interesting part is regarding the delay.
Rayman Legends will now arrive on PS3 & Xbox 360 in addition to the Wii U in SEPTEMBER which is a terrible blow to everyone including myself who were eagerly awaiting it’s March release. One has to wonder if the Wii U version was ready to go but has now been delayed so Ubisoft can re-work the game for the PS3 & Xbox 360.
In the end the good news is that Ubisoft is finally coming clean on the exclusive sillyness and more players will be able to enjoy Rayman Legends. The bad news is that the game has been delayed yet again and September is a long way away.
