Ultra Street Fighter IV, yes Capcom are going to release yet another revision to the ever popular Street Fighter IV. It does seem like the perfect opportunity to poke fun at Capcom for spamming the crap out of Street Fighter IV but truth be told, Ultra Street Fighter IV exists because the fans are still playing the game.
Originally envisioned as some kind of balance update, the “2013 update” now does much more than simply tweak move properties. To be really honest, they’re just ripping some stuff from Street Fighter X Tekken and bringing it over although there will be a new character who has never appeared in a Street Fighter game before.
- New Characters: Five new characters, including Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento, and an all-new unannounced character join the fight, complete with their own unique play styles… bringing the current roster count to a massive 44 characters.
- New Stages: Six new battle environments: Pitstop 109, Mad Gear Hideout, Cosmic Elevator, Blast Furnace, Half Pipe, and Jurassic Era Research Facility, have been added for even more visual variety.
- Rebalanced Gameplay: Direct fan feedback was gathered on all of Super Street Fighter IV: AE’s original 39 characters and core system mechanics in order to achieve the most balanced Street Fighter ever.
- New Modes and Features: Yet to be announced brand new modes and features further add to the suite of gameplay options.
- Disc and Digital Delivery: Available as both a downloadable upgrade and full retail product, making it easy for veterans and newcomers to experience the fight of the century.
- Complete DLC Costume Offering (retail or full download ver. only): Consumers who purchase the retail or full download version will also receive all previously released costume DLC for the Street Fighter IV series (a $40 value) for free, making it the most complete offering of the game ever!
Ultra Street Fighter IV will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC sometime in early 2014 so it’s surprisingly far off. it’s $14.99 (About £10) for current Super Street Fighter IV & Arcade Edition owners to upgrade and $39.99 (About £30) for the full disc based retail version.
Hopefully Capcom will announce a Wii U version down the line eventually, I really want to play Street Fighter IV using my SNES controller just like the old days. I’m awful at arcades sticks.
