Nintendo have released some new screenshots for the upcoming Super Mario 3D World and they look stunning. I’ve never been a graphics fanboy but this is one gorgeous looking game, it’s what I always wanted to see from the “HD era” of games but instead all I was were some brown military shooters.
The screenshots do a great job at highlighting the variety featured in Super Mario 3D World in addition to what appears to be some new power ups. In particular we see Princess Peach take one of the Koopa’s shell and use it in some capacity considering Koopa shells are not normally pink.
We’ve always said over the years that it’s not necessarily pure horsepower that creates the best looking games around, those with strong art direction can also stand tall. It may not be the most powerful system on the market but it looks like the Wii U is the one closest to achieving those “Toy Story” graphics everyone was raving on about during the early PS2 days.
Super Mario 3D World is due to arrive on November 29th in Europe. Believe it or not that’s the same day as the PlayStation 4 and that may sound like the dumbest decision ever but considering Watch Dogs is no longer a launch title, I think I’ll actually be spending my day playing this game instead.
