Wander is a non-combat, non-competitive, collaborative multiplayer game for Mac, Linux and Windows.
If you can’t fight then what’s left to do?! Be… friends?
Well, ever wanted to be just like one of those tree men from Lord of The Rings? You can do that in Wander.
Ever wanted to fly in an open world as a griffin? Checkmate.
Seamlessly transforming between the two? Bullseye.
If that somehow sounds strange to you, you shut your mouth, watch this footage and we’ll convene in five.
Tree man and Griffin footage:
Swimming as some ugly fish monster:
What’s also good to note is that it’s been confirmed that this game will support the that new piece of hardware (that anyone who’s anyone is talking about): the Occulus Rift. This, combined with the developer’s emphasis on non-competitive gaming seems to give off the impression that this most definitely will be leaning towards ambient gaming. A 3D world where you’ll be able to live out your fantasy to fly high across the digital sky - sounds a bit contrived, no?
Well take a look at the latest footage:
All definitely suffers from being very much still in-development, but there is potential here. One can only wonder what experiences this could give players when it comes to multiplayer. The PS3′s Journey, springs to mind - let’s just hope Wander lasts longer than a few measly hours.
