Vita owners rejoice as a new gameplay trailer for Killzone Mercenary has been released and it looks very promising. Much has been said about Sony’s struggling handheld but I don’t think many can deny that at the very least it’s a nice piece of kit with a lot of unrealized potential.
Killzone Mercenary is the fifth entry in the Killzone series if you like to include Liberation for the PSP but unlike that game Mercenary is a full on Killzone game for the handheld. At the moment not much is known as Killzone Mercenary other than it will provide online multiplayer for up to 8 players and you’ll be fighting alongside the Helghast forces in addition to ISA specialists. There’s also some worryingly gimmicky stealth kills that use the touch screen, it didn’t work in Uncharted Golden Abyss and I doubt it will work here.
The game is being developed by Guerrilla Cambridge who were formally known as SCE Cambridge Studio until Sony decided to rename them and have them be a sister stupid to Guerrilla Games. Their past works include the MediEvil games and LittleBigPlanet for the original PSP so rest assured that the series is in good hands.
Killzone Mercenary now also has a release date and it’s September 18th so Vita owners best mark that date down.
