Bethesda Softworks today announced The Evil Within, it appears that true survival horror may not yet be dead after all. To everyone in the gaming media the game is known as The Evil Within, between me and you, it’s Resident Evil 5.
The official title is now The Evil Within which is basically another way of saying Resident Evil. The game was previously known as Z.W.E.I which means two in German, it’s more or less telling us that this is “Resident Evil Version 2″. Maybe I’m looking too much into this but I’m just so excited over the fact that Shinji Mikami is returning to his survival horror roots.
Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced the planned release of The Evil Within™, a survival horror game developed at Tango Gameworks™ under the direction of renowned game designer and studio head, Shinji Mikami. Best known as the father of the survival horror genre and creator of the Resident Evil series, Mikami is a 20-year veteran of the industry who has developed numerous award-winning titles.
“We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within,” said Mikami. “My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.”
At the moment details on The Evil Within are rather thin, other than the live action trailer and some screenshots, we know next to nothing. It’s a survival horror game designed by Shinji Mikami, what else do you you need to know anyway?
The Evil Within will be arriving sometime in 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and “next-gen” systems. Words cannot express how much I’m looking forward to this one.
