The Pixeljam Octology, a collection of eight great retro stylised games, is now pay-what-you-want until 24/07/13.
With titles like “Potatoman Seeks the Troof” and “Dinorun” on the list, you’d be kicking yourself in the shins for not taking part in this.
Warning: some of the games are pinball games.
Come dance and party in 8 bit - you’ll have plenty of fun and entry fee is whatever you want it to be. How about you don’t take yourself too seriously this weekend and grab yourself some niché titles? They work with Macs, Windows and Linux so no excusing yourself out of this one.
So what’s in the Octology, then?
Potatoman seeks the Troof
What is the Troof? Is it bananas? Does Potatoman even find out what it is? Well, my game urchin, it’s not about the destination - it’s about the journey. This game plunges you head-first into a deeply philosophical and self-questioning experience that you’ll never forget. Do not let the simple graphics fool you; this game is filled with the insight of countless NPC’s and plenty of obstacles that will challenge your quest for enlightenment. Potatoman will soon become an iconic representation of your Summer.
Dinorun SE
Imagine for me, if you can, you and your mates on a night out. You reach into your wallet and discover a ten pound note that you had long forgotten about. You head back into the venue and you can party for another hour or so on this divine sterling. You’re in a club, how long can you make this money last? How can you make this night worth it? How loud are those speakers? Is your voice loud enough? Can you still pull?
Take this feeling of utter immersion in your self-preservation, add an adrenaline-pumping soundtrack and then add a dash of dinosaur. Dinorun will not dissapoint.
Dinorun Marathon of Doom
An epic single level marathon challenge. Practice your skills in the main game. Kick ass in this neat addition.
Bitku Beta
Draw some pixel comics. Sounds like fun. What are you complaining about, you’re paying what you want. Perhaps, impress your girlfriend with a lovey dovey 8-bit surprise for her birthday. She’ll think you’re cute.
Snowball
Pinball on a huge scale. Oh and it’s snow-themed. Soundtrack is gorgeous and there’s plenty of depth to be enjoyed here. Fans of Pinball on Windows could probably buy this Octology just for this game - be careful; you’ll quickly become an addict. You could gift it to your mum! Suggestions galore!
Potatoman Seeks the Troof Soundtrack
You’re still reading so we’re gonna chance it and say you have game music on your phone. If you do happen to like Potatoman you’ll probably want to flaunt how indie you are to your friends. Well, set these as your ringtones and you’re good to go!
Planeteri
Lo-fi visuals dress a mellow collection of deep ambient music by Miles Tilmann. You can even place your own audio files into the visualizer. Good for getting dressed, undressed or even other things to do with clothes.
Pixeljams Volume 1
A collection of jams from the Pixeljam team themselves. They cover a wide range of genres - all good contributions for a playlist update.
