Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have released the first teaser trailer for Batman Arkham Origins. Don’t get too excited however as teaser these days just means CG so we’ll have to wait a while longer before we get to see some gameplay footage. (The next trailer due on May 20th is likely just an extended version of what you’re seeing here)
Batman Arkham Origins is exactly what the name implies, it takes place before the other two Arkham games and will see players take control of a younger Batman.
Batman: Arkham Origins is the next installment in the blockbuster Batman: Arkham videogame franchise. Developed by WB Games Montréal, the game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise. Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.
I take it you’ve already spotted the “problem” here, the game isn’t being developed by Rocksteady and instead Warner Bros. Montréal will be in charge. We all know this could go one of two ways so hopefully the team is able to produce something on par with Rocksteady’s previous efforts.
GOOD LUCK to everyone over at Montréal, the bar has been placed stupidly high for you guys. Rocksteady was once an unproven developer too so we’ll see how it goes.
Batman Arkham Origins is set to launch on October 25th and it’s a worldwide launch so no one gets it early over anyone else which is always nice. It will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC. There’s also 3DS and Vita version in the works which is said to play like a “Metroidvania” game so keep an eye out for that one too.
