Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD Trailer

Assassins-Creed-3-Liberation-600x300

The former PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin’s Creed Liberation will be making it’s way to consoles next year. Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD drops the III from the title and instead sticks in HD, given how the reception to Assassin’s Creed III was, I too would distance myself from that game.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD is no simply straight port, the team at Ubisoft are giving the game a graphical overhaul, re-mastering the music and sound effects, revamping the gameplay and offering up new missions that dive deeper into Aveline’s story.

Seriously I wasn’t joking about the graphical overhaul, check out the difference for yourself.

If you’ve never played Assassin’s Creed Liberation on the PlayStation Vita (and I imagine that’s a few of you) then the press release gives a nice outlook on the game’s premise.

The year is 1765. While the seeds of the American Revolution are being sewn in Boston and New York, Spanish forces in the South plot to seize control of Louisiana for the Templars, threatening to forever shift the balance of power in the New World. As Templars secretly take hold of the slave trade in New Orleans, Aveline de Grandpré, an assassin of mixed French and African heritage, stands ready to defend her people. She soon finds herself on an unforgettable journey that will take her from the crowded streets of New Orleans to voodoo-haunted swamps and ancient Mayan ruins. Whether eliminating her enemies with new assassination skills or luring them into cunning traps, Aveline strikes mortal fear into the hearts of those who would stand against freedom.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation was pretty well received when it launched on the PlayStation Vita, it wasn’t incredible but it certainly wasn’t as terrible as Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines on the PSP. Give Liberation a facelift, fine tune the gameplay, release it for a low price and it could potentially be a solid digital download title.

No exact release date has been given for Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD other than 2014. We do know it will be available on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC. For whatever reason it’s skipping Nintendo’s eShop even though Assassin’s Creed III & IV are available on the system.

Speaking of odd decisions, whose idea was it to release this rubbish screenshot?

Screen tearing, missing feet and a crippled hand? This is an actual Ubisoft screenshot believe it or not. I seriously hope this is not a sign of the game’s quality.
