Ace Attorney 5 Will Feature Voice Acting

Capcom have revealed that Ace Attorney 5 will feature full voice acting, oh my god. Speaking to Nintendo Dream (via Siliconera) Capcom admitted that the move is a controversial one yet decided it was the best way to go with Ace Attorney 5. One of the reasons for this is because according to Capcom bringing over DS sounds to the 3DS surround sound is difficult due to differences in sound capabilities between the two systems that causes tuning problems.

Huh?

Don’t look at me, apparently it’s easier to give the whole game voice acting instead. It’s not like Capcom would ever lie to you right?
I don’t know and to be honest I’m not really here to question it, let’s talk about Ace Attorney 5 for a minute and I’ll give you some quick thoughts on it. I’ve been a massive fan of the series since the original, in particular the original Phoenix Wright trilogy was and still the best story I have ever read across any form of entertainment.

The man responsible for the Ace Attorney series is Shu Takumi, he also did the amazing Ghost Trick which sadly wasn’t as successful in terms of sales but was just as good in terms of quality. Okay so here is the worrying part, he isn’t involved with Ace Attorney 5 because he is too busy on the Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney game.

From what I’ve seen of Ace Attorney 5 so far I’m not sure what to make of it, the use of 3D graphics in addition to full voice acting may not sound like big news but to fans of the series it’s a pretty big deal. The 3D graphics I’m sure will be fine but voice acting if not done right could wreck the game, maybe it’s best to have an option to turn off voices just in chance.
Capcom have made many mistakes this generation in my opinion, I really hope Ace Attorney 5 won’t be one of them.
